Description

blackhorn 209

blackhorn 209 designed for in-line muzzleloaders with a 209 primer ignition system. This powder creates high velocities and unbeatable accuracy. BHorn 209 is the only non-corrosive muzzleloading powder. It’s non-hygroscopic, meaning changes in the temperature or humidity will not affects its performance (reduces misfires), it can be cleaned with regular oil-based solvents and does not require any special primer  BHorn 209 powder uses standard 209 shotshell primers. Because it’s non-corrosive, the need to swab between shots has been eliminated, increasing the amount of time in the field.

SPECIAL NOTES:

  • Do not exceed the loads displayed in the reloaders guide.
  • Never mix any two powders regardless of type, brand, or source.

Best muzzy powder, bar none. Nothing else is close. The very first time you shoot it, you know your world just changed. Very little smoke, smell, ash or grime. Shoots like a rifle with a modern cartridge and cleans like the same. While not as completely non-corrosive as a typical smokeless load, it’s far and away less corrosive than BP or the other substitutes. Check your local laws before hunting with this powder, though. Some short-sighted states have decided that this powder isn’t primative enough for their muzzle loading seasons.

ALLOWS YOU TO JUST KEEP SHOOTING AS MUCH AS YOU WANT . NO CLEANING BETWEEN SHOTS AT ALL.

90 gr in my Lymans Great Plains 54 and in my old sharon barrel TC Hawken 50 with 209 magsparks on both. Tight groups at 100 and PLENTY of power. 20 shots each at the range and no cleaning until the end. Great Stuff. Lets you shoot more at the range. Highly recommend!

Greatest kept secret out there. Shoots like smokeless! I shoot 325 gr .45 cal Hornady FTX Leverevolution bullets in a .50 cal sabot over 120 gr vol BH209. 1,750+ FPS and good groups!!

BLACKHORN 209 allows us to load-n-shoot like chain smokers all day long without experiencing the fouled barrel after 1-3 shots! Perfectly consistent ease of reloading from shot #2 to infinity! Well perhaps shot #2 until “dry-wallet” sets in; getting to be an expensive range hobby. This product will not hang/misfire in any climate if one simply takes an 1/8″ drill bit, positioned between their index & thumb and manually auger the ash from the breech flash channel before the BIG DAY. Even though you can see light through the 0.030 flash hole, you’d be suprised how cruddy the chimney can be! And that goes for any 209 primer regardless of propellant used (however the Blackhorn 209, being nitrocellulose based, does require much more fire & pressure in the primer department than do the “sugar” based products w/ water clean-up). Some claim it is corrosive? Judge for yourself. Nitro based with solvent clean up. Hmmmmmmm. Gotta be better than disolving cotton-candy residue by soaking the rifle in the bath tub (or spit patching just to reload) – would’nt you think?

This is my second year using Blackhorn 209 and i have been ordering here. I am sold. It is cleaner shooting, more powerful and more accurate than pyrodex. I took two doe last year at 180 yards using 100 grains behind a TC sabot and a 240 grn Hornady XTP bullet. It shoots 1″ at 100 out of my CVA optima. It is more expensive but well worth the price.
